Part 5/?

“Huh?” You whirled around, surprised. “Seriously? Wow, that’s great!” Himchan’s eyes lit up.

        “You’ve heard of us?”

You avoided his gaze. “Um… no… I don’t really keep up with kpop much…”

“Oh, really?” the disappointment in his voice was more than evident. You both continued walking in silence and you tried to rack your brain for anything you knew about them. Your friend, Sohee, was a huge kpop fan and you attempted to go through conversations with her about anything musically related, only to have limited success. It was hard to keep things you weren’t really into in your mind, yet you were wishing that you would have; maybe then it wouldn’t have been so awkward.

“Yeah…. we- we have a lot of sweet fans,” Himchan said, attempting to pick up conversation again. “A lot of our babys send us food so-”

“Warrior!” You suddenly shouted, interrupting him.

        “What?”

“You guys did warrior, didn’t you?” In the dark recesses of your mind, you’d remembered when your friend had fangirled about watching yet another group that seemed to have a tough and bold image and who called their fans “babys”. The only thing you’d really managed to remember was the name of their song, “Warrior”, because you’d never heard of anything like it before.

“Yes!” Himchan seemed to look happy again. “Still, the fact that you remember our song… it makes me happy.” And he had no qualms about showing it. “We’ve done  a lot more songs since then, even though we’re just a year old, and we’re preparing for our new comeback, too.”

“Oh… you guys must be busy, then… How did you have time to come out today?” You honestly wanted to know what strings Sohee had pulled for them all to be there.

“Yongguk hyung said it was fine to relax before our stage,” he kicked a small stone that was in his path, watching it skip across the concrete.  “Even though we just barely got back from America.” He gave a short laugh.

“America? Why did you guys go there?” You were intrigued that they had already been out of Korea even while being considered rookies.

“We had concerts!” Himchan smiled, happily recalling the memories. “And we visited some other cities, too…. there were so many fans, though! We never thought we were that popular…” His voice trailed off and you glanced at him out of the corner of your eye. He seemed to be the happiest when talking about the band or his fans, and it was adorable. “Oh yeah, since we’re here, where do you want to go?”

“Anywhere but the haunted house,”you replied, sharing a knowing smile with him.

“How about the rollercoaster?” Himchan asked, pointing to a monstrous structure not too far away. You cringed at the sight and he put his hand down, understanding. “Then, the pirate ship?”

Just looking at the giant, swinging ship was enough to make you feel like throwing up. “Um… I’m afraid of heights and I don’t really like the swinging thing…” You felt bad about declining the things he wanted to do, but you didn’t want to get yourself in a position where you were sick or scared. The haunted house had taught you better than to do that.

Himchan looked around for a bit, until he spotted a large sign in the distance. “How about that?” He asked, excitedly.

You looked in the direction he was referring to, and almost did a double take. “The petting zoo? Are you sure?”

“Why not?” He grabbed your hand and began dragging you in the direction of the wooden structure You willingly followed, feeling reassured that this was nothing that you were going to panic about.

There wasn’t a door or a gate to the petting zoo. It basically consisted of many enclosed pens with a small latch of some sort, with various animals inside. Himchan headed straight for the rabbit hatch and you followed to hear him ask the assistant near it if you were allowed to pick one up. She stared at him in amazement, and you guessed that she knew who she was. You sighed; maybe this whole experience would be more meaningful if you knew more about him. The first rabbit he received, he gave to you, happily reaching for the next one. You held it in your arms, lightly scratching its head and watching him as he stroked the rabbit’s nose.

“A matoki is one of our band symbols, you know,” Himchan said, looking at you. So that was why he ran to see them first. “We each have our own color and style, too.”

“Oh, really?” You handed the rabbit back to the girl who was standing near the enclosure, and who had spent most of the time gazing at Himchan and throwing daggers at you. “What color are you?”

“Pink!” With that, he dropped the rabbit off into the hands of the love-stricken assistant and went off to visit the other animals, you tagging along behind him.

After a while of looking and petting more animals, you finally decided it was time to leave and headed out, with Himchan trailing behind you. The sight you saw outside was nothing you were prepared for. Small groups of people had accumulated near the entrance and, when they saw him, started shouting his name.

“Himchan oppa! Oppa!” The screams quickly drew the attention of curious passerby who only seemed to want to join in. Himchan grabbed your wrist before whispering, “get ready to run,” and then taking off, dragging you behind. Your shoes were prepared for this and you struggled to keep up. The fans followed and the sound of cameras and cell phones clicking continued to pursue you. Suddenly you felt something scratch your arm, and in the tiny second it took for you to down down at it, Himchan’s grip on your other arm was gone. You looked back up to see him turn around, searching for you, his eyes wide with fear, as fans crashed into you in a frenzy, hoping to get closer to him. He finally spotted you, just before you were pushed down, panic in his eyes.

You were finally close to dozing off to sleep after a long and tiring day. The date had been one of the most horrible things to happen in a long time. Not only did you think that Jonghyun was obnoxious and stuck up, but you had also lost all respect for him. Who did he think he was to embarrass and accuse you of being a sasaeng? How would you have known who was going to meet you, especially on a blind date?

The piercing sound of the doorbell brought you out of your thoughts. You groaned at the thought of having to get up, but did so anyway, dragging the covers along and pulling them around you as you walked. You thought it might have been your friend, coming to see how the date had gone. But why so late? You made a mental note to get even with her as soon as you saw her face. You looked at a clock as you passed by it, 12:18 written on it in bright white lines. The doorbell rang twice again, the screeching sound echoing through your house and you flipped the lights on.

"I’m coming, I’m coming,“ you yelled, waddling as fast as your caterpillar blanket would let you. She would pay for waking you up so late. You opened the door, fully prepared to blow up at your friend, only to meet the unwelcome face of Kim Jonghyun. You stepped back in surprise, but ended up having your feet slip on the blanket, and you tumbled to the floor. Surrounded by a heapful of blankets, you managed to somehow muster the little dignity you had left and poked your head out.

"What are you doing at my house?” You asked, seething with anger as you recalled how embarrassed and humiliated you’d been. There was no way you looked half as intimidating as you hoped. Jonghyun himself looked rather uncomfortable, and you could only hope that it was because he was going to apologize.

"Here.“ He shoved something in your hands that lit up when it touched you.

"My cellphone!” You angrily snatched it away from him “why do you have my things?!”

"I didn’t take them!“ His voice rose and you almost flinched. What right did he have to come to your house in the middle of the night and start shouting, anyway? You opened your mouth to say something when a hand suddenly pushed Jonghyun out of the way.

”__________-ssi,“ It was Onew. "We’re sorry to intrude so late at night, but can we please talk inside?” You stood frozen to the spot, shocked by his sudden appearance. You caught sight of a tall boy behind him, and a blond haired boy off to the side. Minho and Key. Someone was standing next to them and you guessed that it was Taemin, but why were all the members of SHINee at your house at 12 at night?

You nodded, dumbstruck, and stepped aside for the 5 boys to enter. “Why do we have to come in? We already gave her her stuff back!” Jonghyun asked, staring at you irritably. His complaints were ignored and they pushed him in and entered. They took off their shoes at the entrance and walked into the living room, with four of them settling on a couch. Key took his seat in a nearby armchair, while you shut the door and sat across from him. You had never meant for this to become such a big deal. All you had wanted to do in the first place was to relax at home, but no, you just had to be pulled out on a date. And with Jonghyun, no less.

"Um…. Would you mind explaining what’s going on?“ You bit your lip in nervousness; why were they here? Key looked at the others and they all nodded, with the exception of Jonghyun who was looking pretty gloomy.

”____________-ssi…. Jonghyun would like to apologize to you about this evening,“ he started but was interrupted by Jonghyun.

"No, I wouldn’t!” Onew jabbed him with his elbow and he fell silent once again.

"And also… We would like to know what happened… Um…“

It seemed hard for him to say it, but you knew exactly what he was getting at. "I’m not a sasaeng.” You firmly stated, staring hard at them and wondering how to prove your innocence. “If that’s what you’re trying to say, then it’s not true.”

The slightest sign of relief showed on their faces but Jonghyun was not comforted. “Then why did you know who I was?” You looked at him as if he was the stupidest person on earth.

"Because you’re a part of SHINee. Why wouldn’t I know you?“

"My date wasn’t supposed to know who I was,” he said, refusing to back down.

"Your date was switched with me, remember?“ You rolled your eyes, wondering just where this was all going to go. "My friend asked me to go in place of her, and you knew it.”

The other members turned to look at him and his face fell with guilt. “Did you know about this?” Minho asked, surprised. Jonghyun didn’t meet his eyes. “I-I… I found out really late, okay. And I didn’t know anything about her! So I-I just thought that-”

"-I was a sasaeng,“ you finished for him. He looked out the window to the darkness outside and didn’t say anything. The others looked genuinely shocked and unsure of what to do. "So you kicked me out of the cab, barely giving me any time to pick up my things, left me to walk in the rain and drove off,” you continued.

       "Yah!“

       "Hyung!”

The startled expressions of the other four didn’t help Jonghyun any. “I didn’t know!” he suddenly shouted “Look, I’m sorry, okay?!”

"Yah! Can you really talk to her like that after everything you just put her through?“ Onew smacked his head and Jonghyun stood up, trying to get away from him. The others voiced out their complaints and it went on for a minute until Taemin attempted to talk over them.

”_________-ssi…“ The maknae seemed shy and unsure. "Are you… Are you a shawol?” The room suddenly became quiet and everyone looked at you. Uncomfortable with the intensity of their gaze, you ducked your head, hoping that you could suddenly gain the power of invisibility.

"…Yes,“ Minho whirled his head to face Jonghyun, shocked, and you continued before they could start arguing again. "This doesn’t mean I’m not a shawol anymore… I’ll still support and love SHINee… It’s just…”

"I’m sorry, okay? I said I was sorry!“ Jonghyun said, from amidst the other boys surrounding him. "Just… Don’t tell anyone about this… For SHINee’s sake. You can talk about me, but not the others. Don’t…” He sighed, looking around the room at nothing in particular. You stared at him for the longest time, each second prolonging the awkwardness.

"… I got it.“ You looked down, aware of the five pairs of eyes staring at you. "I know SHINee is important to you… So I won’t say anything.” You could feel the others seem to relax and Jonghyun breathed a sigh of relief. “But know this, Jonghyun-ssi.”

"I’m not going to forget this.“

Part 4/?

You stared at the six boys in surprise, ready to bolt at any given second. You weren’t expecting to be awaited by a single guy, let alone six. Inwardly hitting your friend, you nervously bowed, half hidden behind her. Sohee was oblivious to your obvious discomfort and instead prided herself on how well she could carry on a conversation with them.

Yongguk introduced the four new boys. He pointed to a boy who was busy eating a chocolate bar and who said that his name was Daehyun, while Youngjae was the one who stuck close to him. Jongup was the boy who was intently staring at the sky one minute, and Daehyun’s food the next. Zelo was apparently the tallest and the youngest, judging from the way he talked to the others. But you still didn’t get why they had introduced themselves that way in the beginning. Honestly, what was the point? Was it their definition of cool? Your thoughts were broken into by Sohee and she grabbed your hand, excitedly.

“Since we’re all at an amusement park, we should split into groups and enjoy ourselves!” She said, still clutching your hand. “I bet you guys don’t get to do this often, right?”

“We had to ask our manager-hyung for special permission this time,” Zelo spoke up. His height was the only thing stopping you from believing that he was the youngest, yet that was the least of your worries. Here you were, at a park, with people you had never met before, and you were expected to split into groups? And what was all the talk about a manager-hyung?

“Rock-paper-scissors!” Youngjae said, sticking his hand out. “Two losers stick together.”

Besides your opinion, everyone else seemed to think it was a great idea, with the slight exception of Himchan, who seemed a bit uneasy. Come to think of it, he almost always looked that way whenever you saw him. You all stuck out your hands and your reflexes put out scissors. And as luck would have it, everyone else had put out rock. You felt great being crowned loser number one. Now all you needed to know was who would be stuck traveling with you.

They went for round two, but this time, it seemed a bit different. You noticed Yongguk’s sly glances at Daehyun and Zelo, as well as Youngjae’s hidden motions to Jongup with his other hand. And their attacks all seemed concentrated on Himchan. The realization that they were all ganging up on him in an effort to pair you up, dawned on you all too late. By the time you understood, the other’s were cheering and Himchan was groaning and calling for a rematch. But you both knew that they wouldn’t be so kind as to bestow that on you, and shyly stood next to each other, waiting for the rest of them to group up. They couldn’t to agree on who would get Sohee, and in the end decided not to split themselves up at all.

You stood there, taking it all in, shocked. If they didn’t need to divide, what was the point of going around with Himchan? But your complaints were silenced, along with Himchan’s, and you were both sent out to “have fun.”

Which honestly wouldn’t have been that difficult except for the fact that you were with a boy you barely knew. You both walked in silence, each afraid to say something for fear that the other would think it was stupid, until Himchan finally spoke up.

“It seems like they’re always trying to put us together… right?”

You didn’t have the heart to tell him that this was only the second time; he looked nervous enough without your added comments.

“Yeah… I guess so…” The conversation went dry again and it became quiet. You were busy racking your brain, trying to think of how to keep the conversation going, or started again, for that matter.

“Um, _______________-ssi, have you ever heard of B.A.P?” Himchan asked.

“I don’t think so…? Why?”

“Ah, no, it’s just, they’re this group that came out last year… so I was just wondering if you knew…”

“Is it kpop?” When he nodded, you shook your head. “I barely listen to it these days… Maybe I’ve heard of them? But I’m not really sure, sorry.” You kicked a stone that was in your path and your eyes traveled down the path that it had skipped on. “Why? Are you a fan?”

Himchan laughed awkwardly and brushed his hand through his hair. “Um… Actually… Me and the other guys…. We’re a part of it…”

Part 5

After a while, tired of his obvious moping, the other members knocked on his door and went in. Jonghyun was lying on the bed, facing the wall, still gloomy and upset. Key went right to his bedside and shook his shoulder.

“Yah, Jjong-ah,” Key tried to flip him over on his back, but to no avail. “What happened?” All he got was a groan for an answer.

“Hyung, weren’t you supposed to be on a date, today?” Taemin asked, coming closer to the huddled group.

“…Don’t talk about it……” was the faint reply.

A moment of silence followed and Key looked up at the other members, mouthing if they knew why he was like this. They shook their heads and Minho asked, “…Did she dump you…?”

Jonghyun irritably turned over to face them and pulled the blankets over his head. Minho looked at the others in surprise. Had she really just left him?

“Hey, what’s that?” Onew had climbed over Jonghyun to the side next to the wall and picked up your phone and wallet. “Why do you have this??”

“…Go away…”

“Yah, Jonghyun!” Key stood up and pulled the covers off him. “This isn’t funny, okay, why do you have your date’s phone?!” He took the wallet from Onew and opened it to reveal your smiling face.

The other three boys surrounded him to see and Jonghyun immediately reached up and tried to snatch it from them. Minho blocked him and Onew took the wallet, running to the corner of the room, laughing. He tossed your cell phone to Taemin and Taemin opened it before Jonghyun could say anything.

“Guys, look!” Taemin’s voice caught everyone’s attention and Jonghyun sat up on the bed, annoyed. Key was looking over the maknae’s shoulder and, seeing the wallpaper of the phone, yelled, “That’s my face!”

True enough, Key’s face was the one gracing the phone’s background with its majestic presence. “뭐?!” Jonghyun got off the bed and snatched the phone away from Taemin, staring incredulously at the picture. He couldn’t believe it. If you were supposed to be a sasaeng who liked him, why was Key’s picture your backdrop? “This doesn’t make any sense…!”

“What are you talking about?” Minho asked, trying to steal the phone away from him.

“She’s a saseng!”

When he said that, the members all stopped and stared at him. Onew looked at the picture in your wallet and pointed to it. “This girl? Are you sure?”

“Yes!” Jonghyun began walking around the room. “She didn’t tell me that she knew who I was until we were alone in a cab together! And even then she denied it!”

Silence filled the room, except for the sound of Jonghyun’s footsteps as he paced back and forth. The other members all looked at each other, unsure of what to say, until Key broke the silence.

“Are you stupid?”

He said it so blatantly that the others were a little taken back. Jonghyun turned around, surprised, and stomped over to his friend. Sure, Key had called him stupid many times before, but this time it was serious. “뭐라구?! Yah, Kibum!”

“Hyung, just because she doesn’t shower you with praise doesn’t mean she was trying to kidnap you!” Key felt as if Jonghyun was making a big deal about nothing. And the fact that he’d taken the girl’s wallet and phone, too? “And anyway, why do you have her things?”

“She left it in the car when she got out!”

“‘got out?’” The other members looked at each other. “What did you do?”

“I… I got mad…. so I-I made her get out…” The more he said it out loud, the more embarrassed he felt. He looked up to see his friends’ astonished faces.

“You left her in the rain?!” Taemin blurted out. “Hyung!”

“I didn’t know…! I thought she-” He sat back on the bed again, frustrated. “I don’t know!”

“Well, don’t just sit here, you have to go give her things back!” Onew handed Jonghyun the wallet and phone while Minho pulled his hand to make him get up. They started pushing him towards the door, in spite of his resistance and fervent defiance. Jonghyun pushed his hands against the door frame to try and stop them from pushing him out.

“I can’t go alone!” he said, bracing himself against the weight of the four members.

“Why not?”Minho was pushing his back as hard as he could. “If you created this mess, you have to fix it!”

“Yah, stop pushing me!” Jonghyun tried to hold out against them but almost lost his footing, instead. “Just come with me- you guys don’t have to say anything, just stand there!”

“Then there’s no point to us even going!”

“Come on…! Please! I don’t want to go by myself…!!” Onew and Taemin stopped pushing him and Minho released his hold on Jonghyun’s shirt. Key fell back, breathing heavily, and brushed his hand through his hair. The four boys looked at each other for a minute and nodded.

“Fine. We’ll come, but you have to handle it, okay?”

“YES!” Jonghyun was just happy he didn’t have to face you alone. After everything he did, he knew he’d have a lot of explaining to do- and get. And from the looks of it, it was going to get pretty messy.

Part 4/?

Startled, you turned around quickly. You were about to hit him by mistake; the thought of someone suddenly latching onto your hand terrified you. He let go and you somewhat relaxed, even though you were still prepared to run away. The excitement of meeting your bias had dwindled down throughout the entire shoot. Myungsoo didn’t seem to be interested in what was even happening, let alone talk to you.

He cleared his throat and looked away, refusing to look you in the eye. “미안해… uh… about the photo I dropped earlier…”

“Oh…”  Of course it was that. You weren’t even sure what else you expected him to talk about. Oh wait, maybe the fact that he had stared you down the entire time you were filming? “It’s fine, don’t worry about it.”

“But it was a picture of your family, right?” He looked genuinely uncomfortable and you had no clue why.

“Yeah… Um, but its okay! I mean the picture didn’t rip, so it’s okay!”

Myungsoo half-smiled with relief. “Oh, okay then…” It quickly became awkward and you stared at the floor, which suddenly seemed to be the most interesting thing on earth, while he looked at the wall behind you.

“Do you hate me?” You both asked each other at the same time. You looked at him in amazement, did he just read  your mind or something?

“A-Ani!” He joined you in looking at the ground. “I just thought that maybe you didn’t like me or something… because you were always talking to Sunggyu and Dongwoo so…”

You smiled. “Myungsoo oppa….” His face was blushing red and you were sure that he felt self-conscious. “It’s not that I don’t like you… It’s just that you’re my favorite.”

His head snapped up in surprise. “Seriously?!” He was almost shouting. “Then how come you wouldn’t talk to me?”

“Who would talk to someone who was staring at them for so long?” You remembered how embarrassed you felt it happened, and how uneasy you were around him.

“Ah, sorry… It’s just a habit of mine…” Myungsoo ran his fingers through his hair, smiling.

It finally made sense why he’d spent all of filming looking at you, and it was a relief to know that he didn’t hate you, yet you still felt guilty about the entire thing. And of course, he wasn’t going to know.

A loud shout brought you back to reality. He turned in the direction of the noise- your family room. You rushed over, with Myungsoo following you, half expecting something to be broken or damaged. When you got there, you found Sungyeol and Woohyun hunched over what was a glass snow globe just a few seconds ago. Woohyun was picking up the pieces with a tissue while Sungyeol was freaking out, worriedly telling Woohyun to hurry up. When he saw you in the doorway, he jumped in surprise and stumbled, almost tripping over Woohyun’s legs.

        “______________-ssi!”

When Woohyun heard Sungyeol call your name, he immediately hid the tissue behind his back and tried to look innocent.

“What are you guys doing?” Myungsoo was almost laughing at their pathetic attempt to hide the glass. He leaned down and helped Woohyun resume in cleaning the floor while you attempted to reassure Sungyeol that it was no big deal.

“But I broke it! I’ll pay you back for it, I promise,” he protested, refusing to listen to your reassurances.

        “But-”

“No, it’s okay, I want to.”

        “Oppa-”

“I feel awful… Ever since we walked into your house, we’ve been breaking things and causing trouble…” He looked almost ashamed and you felt a twinge of guilt, remembering that what you were doing to them was even worse.

“No, its okay, oppa, don’t worry about it, really!” It seemed as though you were constantly saying that, but you felt as if it was really just to reassure yourself. Sure, it was all a part of the show, but you were actually getting to know them, and it would take less than a minute for the truth to come out, and your world to come crashing down.

Part 3/?

“______________!” Your friend, Sohee, was yet again busy banging on your front door. Worried that she would disturb the neighbors, you quickly unlocked it and pulled her inside.

“Yah! What are you doing so early in the morning?” You were grumpy because she’d called you an hour before, telling you to get ready to go somewhere. “Where are we going?”

“You’ll find out soon, just get your shoes on.” Sohee pulled out your shoes from a nearby cabinet and threw them on the ground in front of you. She rushed around your apartment as if looking for something but she couldn’t seem to find it, because she finally reappeared in front of you, out of breath, and asked, “Yah, where’s your camera?!”

        “In my backpack; why?”

“Ani, nevermind, just come, we’re gonna be so late…!!” She pulled you by the hand out the door, barely giving you any time to lock it, and practically dragged you down the street, as if she’d forgotten you could walk by yourself. She finally let go and you saw the bus stop come into view. Curiosity got the best of you and you tried to ask her again where your destination was, but to no avail.

When the bus came, Sohee paid for both of your fares and you got on, sliding into a seat, with her following you. “This will be so much fun, ___________!”

“How would I know that?” You pouted, turning your head to face the window. “You won’t even tell me where we’re going.”

“Aish, just wait till we get there…! I don’t want to ruin the surprise!”

Wait, what? You knew from personal experience that your definition of “surprise” was a whole lot different than Sohee’s definition. Her idea of a surprise once consisted of taking you bungee jumping in an attempt to overcome your fear of heights. You knew she meant well, but your stomach churned at the thought of “facing another fear.”

“No way, no way, I’m not doing this!” You protested.

“Relax, it’s not a big deal.” Sohee seemed preoccupied with her cell phone, barely looking at you while she replied.

“The last time you planned a surprise for me we went into a haunted house.” you reminded her.

“Yeah, where you met cute boys…!”

You groaned and slumped back in your seat. There was no way you could ever convince her. If there was, you could have stopped her a long time ago, even before the bungee jumping.

Ten minutes later, the bus driver made an announcement and Sohee snapped up, craning her neck to look past you. She saw a sign that had the stop’s name on it and immediately got up, pulling you with her.

“It’s our stop, ____________!” She seemed oddly excited, more so than before, but you continued following her and got down from the bus. In front of you stood a huge sign that read “Everland Amusement Park”, with a lot of people going in.

“Sohee!” You accusing tone was enough for your friend to look guilty. She sheepishly smiled at you, ducking her head before you could attempt to hit her. “Last time it was a haunted house and now this?!”

“___________….,” she whined, pulling you along despite your complaints. “Just wait until you see what I have planned for you, okay? And after today, if you’re still mad at me, then fine, but just wait until then, okay?”

You grudgingly didn’t reply, knowing fully well that no matter how mad you tried to stay at her, it would fail., and you’d go right back to forgiving her by the end of the day.

The further you went into the park, the more the warning bells in your head seemed to ring. You ignored them, dismissing the thought that anything bad could possibly happen to you at that moment. Sohee spotted someone and her eyes light up and she ran ahead, leaving you to follow her in confusion. As you got closer to the figure she was approaching, you felt nervous and you had a feeling you knew who he was. And then you saw the boy next to the figure and your stomach flipped. It was Himchan. And from the looks of him, it was probably Yongguk next to him. When you were finally standing in front of them, Sohee was happily greeting them while you shyly mumbled your own hello. You lifted your head and noticed not two, but 6 pairs of eyes staring at you. What…?

Besides Yongguk and Himchan, there were 4 other boys standing with them, curiously looking at you. You panicked, not knowing them and unconsciously moved closer to Sohee. She reassuringly touched your arm as Yongguk looked at the other boys, as if preparing for some kind of cue.

And then, as if they had a secret connection or something, they suddenly bowed and said, Annyeonghaseyo, Uri B.A.P, yessir!”

Part 3/?

You fully opened the door, somewhat dazed at the sight of your bias, L. Backing away slowly, you stood in awe of your favorite group. You’d always dreamed of this day and now it was finally here. The 7 boys filed  in one by one and stood around the living room, waiting as some staff members began coming in.

You awkwardly stood around the doorway, half-hiding behind the door, until you saw Sunggyu try to get the attention of the other members. They were completely oblivious to the hamster’s calls. Instead, they were too busy racing around the room looking at everything else, to notice him. With every step they took, you became more afraid that you’d forgotten something and your cover would be blown.

Grandpa Gyu had long given up hope of trying to get them together but when he saw you, he seemed to smile with relief. You went over to him and bowed, looking up to see him doing the same.

“Ah, wait a minute, please.” Sunggyu turned and grabbed Sungyeol and Dongwoo by their shirt sleeves, dragging them to where you stood. “Yah, you guys…!” He went back and grabbed Sungjong buy his sweatshirt hood, almost making him fall, and bringing him to meet you. By now, most of the members had lined up, smiling, and you all bowed to each other.

“Annyeonghaseyo, Infinite imnida!”

“Annyeonghaseyo, je ireumeun _______________ imnida…”

“It’s nice to meet you, ___________.” Sunggyu opened his mouth to say something else but a loud noise distracted him. He turned around just in time to see a photo frame fall off the wall and watched as the glass shattered into a million tiny shards.

“YAH MYUNGSOO!!”

Myungsoo had been standing near the picture for a while and hadn’t bothered to come over and say hello, but you tried to ignore it. He was standing over the pieces of broken glass in surprise and Sunggyu stormed over to him.

“What are you doing?!”

“Hyung, I didn’t even touch it!”

“What do you mean, you didn’t touch it?! It can’t just fall like that!”

“Um, it’s okay!” You broke in before they could fight. “It’s always been shaky so it probably fell off on its own.”

Myungsoo looked relieved and avoided Sunggyu’s fierce gaze. If this was how most of the filming was going to go, you weren’t sure you were going to be okay.

“Don’t worry about them, _________,” Dongwoo whispered into your ear, making you flinch in surprise. “They’re just mad at each other because Myungsoo wasn’t allowed to bring his camera but he brought it anyway, so Sunggyu got angry.”

Honestly, the two of them looked like a bickering married couple, but you hardly thought that was what they would have wanted to hear at that moment. The head producer called all of you together and informed you on what the first shoot was the day was going to be. When he told Infinite that you had no clue who they were, you felt a guilt gnawing at your heart and their faces seemed a bit surprised.

You could feel their gaze on you a few times as the shoot began but after a while, it softened and you were able to laugh and talk with them almost normally. Well, with all of them except L. L had spent most of his time staring at you and looking away after you made eye contact, only to have him do it again. You felt slightly uncomfortable under his intense stare but didn’t know what to say or why he was doing it.

When the director called for break, the members dispersed and wandered around your house, while Myungsoo hung back and waited until all the staff members had left for lunch. You felt awkward being in the room alone with him, after he’d just stared you down, even if he was your bias. You were about to leave when Myungsoo suddenly caught your hand and held you back.

“Um, ____________-ssi… Can we talk for a bit?”

Part 2/?

You were terrified of losing your friend, but you were even more afraid of what lurked in the darkness. This was exactly why you didn’t want to come in the first place. The dim light from the bulb seemed to be slowly fading away, and you fumbled in the dark looking for the light switch, moving your hands along the bare wall.

You felt your hand touch something and moved your fingers around it. The smooth texture felt like plastic and you touched what you thought was a switch. You flipped it, but to your horror, the lights didn’t turn on. You flipped it up and down again, as if it would change something.

Nothing changed and you were left with an even bigger sense of fear than before. Panicking, you began walking fast, hoping to find an exit soon before something else found you first. You were so busy looking around you that you didn’t notice a figure standing in front of you, and walked right into it.

And then you screamed. And so did the figure.

“AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” The scream seemed rather deep and in the dim light you could make out the face of a tall, terrified boy in front of you. He seemed to be even more frightened to see you than you were. His face looked vaguely familiar and within a few seconds, you recognized him as the boy at the entrance who was deemed too scared to go in.

“Aish, you seriously-! Yah!” He shouted, agitated.

“What?! I don’t do anything.” You wanted to nonchalantly stay by his side in the hopes that you would have a greater chance of making it out alive, but it seemed awkward to stick so close to someone you hardly knew. “Why? Were you scared?”

“Ani…! No way!” He looked you up and down, making you realize how forward you were being. “If anyone’s scared it’s you- you’re the one that screamed first!”

“No, I didn’t!”

“Did too!”

A moment of embarrassed silence followed as you both realized how childish you sounded. You didn’t want to find your way alone, but you didn’t know how to ask him to come along, either.

“Let’s go together.”

You looked incredulously at him. Did he just read your mind or something? He cleared his throat and looked at you, looking away when you made eye contact.

“We both don’t want to die in here, right? Besides, I’m hungry, so let’s just leave together.”

“Um…. okay….” You quickly followed him as he began walking, almost as if he knew where to go. “I’m ___________, by the way.”

“Himchan. Kim Himchan.” You nodded, despite knowing he couldn’t see you.

The rest of the way out was followed by an awkward silence. You didn’t know what to say to fill the space and, apparently, neither did he. It seemed like a good idea that you had both joined together to find a way out since you saw the exit sign within a few minutes. You spotted your friend outside the exit, talking the the same brown-haired boy from before. You tapped Himchan on the shoulder and half-bowed saying, “Thanks for helping me… Um, my friend’s over there so…“  You bowed again and retreated to Sohee’s side, only to find you and Himchan following you. You were about to ask him why when Sohee grabbed your arm and dragged you over to where she was previously standing with the brown-haired boy.

“___________, you remember Yongguk, don’t you?” She asked, smiling at him.

You nodded and when Himchan joined you, Yongguk broke out into a gummy grin.

“Where were you?” He asked his friend, nudging him with his elbow.

“Ah, seriously, Yongguk, why did you just leave me?!” Himchan pushed his friend aside, as if he was pouting. You stifled a laugh that threatened to come out after seeing Himchan’s childish behavior.

“You weren’t alone~” Yongguk was still relentless with his teasing. “You were with ___________-ssi the entire time, right?” Himchan blushed red when he heard this and avoided your eyes.

“A-Ani…”

“Yongguk oppa,” Sohee grabbed his arm, startling him, "Since we’re all friends now, we should meet up again, right?”

Yongguk smiled, although it seemed more like a secret attitude of understanding between them both. “Yeah, we should, don’t you think so, Himchan?”

“Ah, why are you bringing me into this, hyung?” Himchan was too busy grumbling to notice what was going on, but you did, even if it confused you to no end.

You tugged on Sohee’s sleeve, pressuring her to leave, and she nodded, quickly taking out her cell phone and asking Yongguk for his phone number. He agreed and after their conversation was over, he turned to you and said, “______________-ssi, I hope you and Himchan get a chance to meet again!”

He totally caught you off guard and you blinked a few times, confused. “Huh?” What was that supposed to mean?

“Don’t worry about it.” He laughed and nudged Himchan, making his friend lightly push him away. “I’m sure we’ll meet again.”

Part 3/?

Jonghyun looked at you for a minute and looked away. And then he looked at you again. He tapped the driver on his shoulder and said, “Ahjussi, please stop the cab.”

You looked at him incredulously. Surely he wasn’t going to just make you get out in the middle of the street, right? Jonghyun turned around and faced you.

“Yah!” He looked genuinely pissed off, now. “Do you think this is funny?” The cab stopped and he leaned over, opening the door. He motioned to it, shaking his head. “Get out.”

You looked at him, shocked. “Excuse me…?”

“You heard me. Get out. Now.” His eyes looked like they were shooting daggers, and if looks could kill, you’d be pretty much dead right now. You weren’t sure what to do. You had no clue what was going on. Yes, you knew who he was, but why did it matter?

Not exactly sure of what you were doing, you got out, nervous about what would happen next. And then, to your absolute surprise, Kim Jonghyun leaned over once again, and closed the door to your seat. The doors automatically locked and he rolled the window down, looking out at you. The looks of you standing out on the street, and having a taxi stop in front of you, with a man leaning out, must have seemed strange enough without the complications of what was going on.

It began to lightly drizzle and you were still watching Jonghyun stare at you, with piercing eyes. “I’m sure you’ve had your fun, now, __________-ssi” he said, smirking,” but don’t you think that this was a bit too cruel?”

        “…What? I-”

“Get your own ride home.” He cut you off and began rolling the window up. Little specks of understanding seemed to enlightened you and you reached out to stop him, but the moment you touched the car, it sprang to life and drove off. After a few shock- filled seconds, you found yourself tearing down the street following the cab, shouting Jonghyun’s name as you ran. You couldn’t believe this was happening. Celebrity or not, who would just leave their date stranded?!

The cab was much too fast for you and you became tired quickly, stopping to catch your breath. You looked up and saw the cab disappearing on the farthest bands of the city lights and felt hopelessness and anger set in. It began raining harder now and as the drops of water fell harsher than ever, you ran into a nearby bus stand for shelter. You reached to your side for your wallet and cell phone, when your hands suddenly enclosed around nothing. Of course. You’d left it in the cab.

You panicked, double checking your pockets, fully aware that there was no way it was in there, and yet hoping that, out of some miracle, you’d find it. Your frustration mounted and you stared at the horizon where the taxi had long disappeared, your face seething in anger.

And all you’d wanted to do that day was relax at home.

You began the long, dreary walk back home, too embarrassed to ask someone for money for the bus and pay them back later. When you finally got home, it was long past dinner time and you were too tired to do anything but take a shower. When you got out, you sat on your bed in a frustrated slump.

You had no idea what to do. After a long moment of debating with yourself, you decided that the only thing to do was to wait. Maybe, out of his never ending pity, the idiot would see your wallet and phone before he got off. And maybe, out of his unceasing kindness, he would actually pick it up and notify you in some way. Maybe. But that was an awful lot to expect out of someone who had just ditched you on a date, and you knew it.

You would have never imagined something like this happening. Especially not with Kim Jonghyun.

Part 2/?

You weren’t sure if you heard right. Did she just ask you to act like you didn’t know Infinite? You looked at the writer’s face and she nodded.

“I know this is a big change, but we think the show would be more interesting that way.”

“But after filming… I can admit I know them, right?” You didn’t think it would be possible to pull off something like this for so long.

“Erm, no, not exactly.” She looked around to the other script writers and a few nodded. “We’d like it to be this way for the duration of the show.”

You could hardly believe what you were hearing. This act was supposed to go on for three months? You could barely lie about where you’d been the day before and yet you were expected to pull this off for a long time? You felt disappointed. For the first time ever, you got to meet your favorite idol group, and yet you couldn’t tell them how much they meant to you. They wouldn’t be able to hear how much you loved them, and how you’d listen to their music non-stop, on repeat, so much so that you knew all the words and all the vocals.

“I… see…” You mumbled, chewing on your lips. You really weren’t sure how to reply. “But isn’t this show for idols to hangout with their fans?”

“Yes, but we wanted a little bit of a change and see how this goes.” She was trying to be nice and patient about it, you could tell. There was nothing you could do about it, either, so you agreed and the meeting seemed to end abruptly. The staff dispersed and you went home.

That night, you packed all your Infinite albums and photo cards into boxes and put them into a closet. The first episode was going to be shot at your house, and the staff wanted to make sure that anything that would give you away as a fan was put away for a while. All the posters came down, and the collages were rolled up. Fan art was folded and put into a cover. You changed your laptop background from infinite to a plain blue screen color and your phone no longer had “Man in Love” as its ringtone.

It didn’t help that you were extremely nervous about meeting Infinite. You had no idea what to expect now that you had to act like you didn’t know who they were. You didn’t want them to get bored with you, either. You hadn’t bargained for this much when you’d agreed to join the show.

But worrying didn’t amount to anything and you tried to forget about it all, attempting to go to sleep, and miserably failing. It was a while before your eyes shut and tiredness seeped in, luring you into a dream world.

You spent the next morning running around trying to clean up everything. For some reason, the sofa pillows had to be propped up just right at a certain degree, and every room needed to be sprayed with freshener. You quickly gulped down a hurried breakfast and ran to your room to change. Nothing seemed to fit or look okay, but you somehow managed to get dressed and rush downstairs to await the impending visitors’ arrival.

And you were none too soon. The doorbell soon began to ring and you ran to open it, fumbling with the lock. The minute the door swung open, a flash went off in front of your face and  you were greeted by a shiny camera, and behind it, L.

        “Smile!“

Part 2/?

You knew exactly who he was. From all the times you’d seen him on the covers of magazines, to the various ads promoting him and his group, this was a face you could not miss. And now, he was standing in front of you. It took you a few seconds before you attempted to understand what was going on. You slowly nodded your head and half-bowed, but your mind was reeling. Why was he here? How had this happened? And him of all people?

Jonghyun gave you a smile. “Its nice to meet you, _________-ssi! My name is Jonghyun!”

You felt like you were in a dream. The fact that he was even on a blind date confused you to no end. Of course, it made sense that even though he was an idol, he would still want a relationship. But agreeing to a date with someone he had never met? The image of him in a relationship…. it was different from what you’d ever imagined.

You managed to somehow find your voice again. “It’s nice to meet you too, Jonghyun.”

That small remark seemed to break the ice between you, for Jonghyun. He pulled you by the hand saying, “Lets go!”

You were a bit shocked at his behavior, not expecting him to be this forward. “Um, where are we going?”

“It’s a surprise~” He said, happily dragging you around. “I have so much planned for you today!”

Well, he certainly was not bashful. And he seemed so excited, like a little kid on a field trip. Jonghyun wasn’t dressed that secretly either. A woolen hat and a red scarf was all that really enclosed his head. One look at his face was all that was needed to alert the tabloids that SHINee’s Jonghyun was frolicking around with a woman.

You followed him meekly, slightly disturbed at the outcome of what would happen if someone found out, but if Jonghyun felt the same, he certainly didn’t show it. You looked up to seeing him hailing a cab.

When a car finally stopped, you sat in the backseat first, with him sliding in after you. “SeaWorld aquarium, please” he told the driver. SeaWorld? Of all attractions, he wanted to go to one of the most crowded places in Seoul?

“Um… Jonghyun…” Did he know what he was doing? How his career could be forever affected by this?

“Yes?”

“Uh, the aquarium is really crowded, you know.”

“Oh really?” He chewed his lip, and took out his cell phone. “I hope we can get a good place in line, then.”

“Huh? But…” He looked up from his phone at you. “I mean, you’re SHINee’s Jonghyun. Won’t you be in trouble is people see you with a random girl?”

Jonghyun seemed to be a bit taken back. “You-You know who I am?”

“Well… yeah. You are pretty popular.” You were confused; why didn’t he know that you knew? “Wait, so all this time, you thought that I had no clue who you were?”

“Yes… Your friend said that you didn’t have an interest in K-pop…”

“Um….” Would this be a good time to tell him that you were a shawol? “Actually, Jonghyun… I’m your fan.”

Jonghyun seemed genuinely shocked. “Excuse me?” His eyes darted everywhere but you and he ran his fingers through his hair. “Are you serious?” His smile was gone now and he seemed pretty upset. He looked around nervously and sighed, leaning his head on the head rest of his seat and breathing heavily.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

Part 1/?

You hated haunted houses. No, you really couldn’t stand them. The last time you went into one, you were so scared that you ended up having to be escorted out by the staff because there were people waiting in line behind you. You promised yourself that you would never go through that horror again and yet, here you were, on a cool fall day, waiting in line for tickets to see “Seoul Kingdom Horror home”. Great. It even sounded welcoming. This was not what you’d come to Korea for.

The further you got to the front of the line, the more frantic your excuses became. “Sohee…. lets not do this, this is a horrible idea!”

Your friend only laughed and taunted you, saying, “You’re scared, right, ________? You’re so scared!” You both had reached the front of the line and Sohee handed the cashier the money. “Don’t worry, ________, I’ll help you get over your fear today!”

But that wasn’t what you wanted. All you cared about was getting far away from this place. While the cashier was busy notifying staff of the upcoming visitors, you tried begging your friend one last time. “Sohee, please, lets go somewhere else!”

“You’re scared too, huh?” a voice said behind you. You turned around and came face to face with a tall Korean boy with light brown hair. He smiled and pointed behind him to another boy who was busy tying his shoelaces. “Himchan’s scared too!”

“No, I’m not!” Himchan protested, giving his laces one final tug. He sauntered over and gave the first boy a light shove. “I just don’t want people I don’t know trying to touch me.”

“Oh, so if you know them its okay?” the first boy teased, relentless. He wrapped Himchan in a bear hug, which was a bit hard considering he wasn’t that much taller than him.

“Ah, Yongguk, seriously…!” Himchan shrugged off the invading arm and made a weird face at the other boy.

Sohee laughed and, in spite of yourself, you gave a small smile. Yongguk grinned and said, “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine!” He pulled Himchan’s arm again. “But if you really get scared, just listen for a really loud scream and go to it. It’s probably this guy.”

“Ah, hyung…!! What are you trying to do?!” Himchan punched Yongguk and pushed him towards the counter. “Just go pay for us already!” Yongguk laughed and walked to the cashier as the you and your friend waved back at them and went into the haunted house.

Inside, it was nearly pitch black, except for a few flickering light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. Tiny beams of light casted cold shadows on the wall. It definitely portrayed terror well. You literally clung to Sohee’s arm, nervous about what would leap out at you first.

“Yah, __________, you’re going to rip my ar-” She stopped mid sentence and screamed, startling you. A ghostlike figure with a pale face and long black hair was standing in the corner of the room, slowly inching its way towards you. Sohee pushed past you and ran, leaving you behind, panicked and scared to death. By the time you turned around, the figure had already disappeared without a trace and your friend was nowhere to be found.

“So-Sohee….?” You whispered. The only response was an eerie quiet.
